N9

Nokia N9 is a piece of art in Industrial Design. Its glass is curved to facilitate “the swipe”, the gesture on which the UI is based on. The body is sculpted from a single piece of colored polycarbonate and this makes the phone resistant to scratches.

The Nokia N9 is often considered a design icon of its time. Released in 2011, the N9 showcased a unique and innovative design that set it apart from other smartphones of the era. It was highly acclaimed for its sleek and minimalist appearance, featuring a unibody polycarbonate shell with a smooth, curved glass display that seamlessly blended into the overall design.

The N9's design language was also praised for its simplicity and elegance. It had a clean and uncluttered appearance, with smooth lines and a minimalist aesthetic. The choice of materials, such as the polycarbonate body, gave it a distinct and premium feel.

While the Nokia N9 did not achieve significant commercial success due to various factors, its design continues to be appreciated and revered by many. It stands as a testament to Nokia's commitment to pushing the boundaries of smartphone design and innovation during that period.

Later on the N9 design DNA became the backbone of the Microsoft Lumia product range.
